I stand corrected on the yellow card count. I agree he’s top class and one of our best players and miles ahead of the other two. I do think his penalty count is a worry, in both general play and scrums. Scrum penalties often depend on a refs impression and they can take a set against a player.

He conceded 15 penalties and 6 scrum penalties in 9 games for Leinster in the URC this year.

He was blessed not be red carded v Toulouse in the semi final.

I don’t really rate him. He’d be high on the list of lads who’ll cost you with a moment of stupidity in a tight game.

You need to be bigger to lock out the scrum but porter isn’t good at that.

He can squad 250kg all he likes. He’s a liability.

Would you rather be stuck looking for 60 minutes from a veteran loosehead like Cian Healy or Dave Kilcoyne though?

Stuart Hogg retiring before the world cup is a bit a strange one. I know he’s talked about the concern about wear and tear on his body but it adds fire to some of the rumours.
