Aboy Chanley, would have been a class goal in fairness, if he stuck it.

UCC should be further ahead. Some poor wides/misses.
The UCC backs are doing ok whereas the UL backs are struggling on Buckley and Hayes in particular.
Some very bad wides.

Mellerick has eaten Rodgers alive. Hayes playing himself on the Cork senior side. Barrett v sharp, Buckley good with a few poor wides.
Hayes won’t come close. He’s doing well here

Man of the match so far is Thomas Walsh, as referee. Maybe could have given a couple more frees but all you can really ask for is consistency and he’s been very consistent at both sides.
Night and day in terms of work rate from UCC compared to the Mary I game. They’re working their socks off here and were very dominant in the first 15 minutes or so. UL did come back into it but UL had a strong wind and took too long to get to the pitch of the game. Forwards looked very isolated at times.
Both sides missed good goal chances, both AOC & Barrett should have goaled when one-on-one. And then Barrett should be doing better with the penalty.
FOC has been best for UL, looks so classy. AOC at the other end has been a handful. Rodgers not in the game so far, been disappointed with Mark Fitzgerald who I think is class. Brennan’s lucky not to be on a yellow too, struggling a little with Hayes.
For UCC, Downey’s been strong (although his striking lets him down at times). Hayes has been a handful, Buckley has been lively. They’ve worked hard around the middle though, the likes of Stakelum and Cormac O’Brien have got through a lot of work.

Some members of the Cork senior hurling panel are currently occupying the bench tonight.
A couple of guys recently let go by Ryan and co. are starting ahead of them on this UCC team, and are hurling well so far
