3 team groups is a format I hate (always gonna beat Maynooth), and then the weakest 1/4 final team in TUS Limerick. Fair play to them beating UCC in Round Robin but UCC were always gonna go through too anyway.
While I would agree that 3-team groups are fairly shit, thereās no other real choice if they do want to have a round robin stage rather than pure knockout.
And, to be fair, the reason they got the weakest quarter-final team was because of beating UCC and they were rewarded for that. UCC probably would have been considered in the top 2 or 3 strongest at the outset, so if they had lost that, theyād probably be out after losing to UL.
No Ben Cunningham or Iarlaith Daly for UCC.
