Awful thing to call his Mrs, you cheeky cunt.
Fire up what ye know of the team composition of each college, mostly who are the well known players with each college.
Ulster University
UCC
UCD
DCU
DIT
St Marys
Maynooth
@Nembo_Kid started us off by listing the players Ulster university have. I wasnât blown away by their line-up which was stronger in years gone by. Likely the Dublin colleges will have bigger names.
Maybe @mickee321 can help us out with what he sees as the marquee players for Maynooth and St Marys?
I will be. Some people are of the opinion this is the final? Have been too busy to notice much this year.
UCD are meant to be gone back a good bit. Cillian Buckley kept them competitive these past few years but heâs not there anymore.
Hard to see past UCC at the Dyke.
Last night was Tuesday mate?
Sure DIT donât even have a home so hardly an advantage for them
All 3 main Dublin collefes are in with a shout, DCU, DIT & DCU. UCC & Jordanstown are the other 2 most likelys. Jordanstown have alot of last years team and thats vital. Them and DCU were messing around too much in the past with bringing in lads from anywhere and chopping and changing teams. It led to disharmony, which is not surprising up there, but keeping some continuity makes them a danger.
UCC are UCC and unlike anyone else they kinda drip feed players through so they keep that harmony that gives them an edge. Football in general is stronger and deeper in Cork/Kerry region than any other place and sometimes unhearlded players sometimes shine for them who may not be nationally known but are very good. The strong Nemo spine along with the constant flow of Kerry talent makes them favs for me.
Fuckin hell.
Former young footballer of the year Ryan McHugh
All Star nominees Ronan McNamee, Killian Clarke, Paddy McBrearty, Kevin Nolan and Rory Beggan
Tyrone senior panelist Rory Brennan
Former AFL recruits Caolan OâBoyle, Caolan Mooney and Niall McKeever
Mayo senior panelist Evan Regan
Armagh senior panelist Stephen Sheridan
Former Tyrone player Conan Grugan
Down senior panelists Niall Madine and Danny Savage
Tyrone All Ireland u21 winners Sean Fox, Ruairi McGlone, Matthew Walsh and Frank Burns
Derry senior panelist Gareth McKinless
Monaghan senior panelists Ryan McAnespie and Kieran Hughes
Cavan senior panelist Michael Argue
There might be a few of those players that you may be unfamiliar with. Niall McKeever is one of the top midfielders around, he just happens to play with Antrim so you might not be too familiar with him. He came back after a few years in Australia playing AFL, missed most of last year through injury.
Caolan Mooney was the new Benny Coulter but left for Australia after minor, heâs back now and has lookd a bit slow to adjust back.
Gareth McKinless is a class act, heâll start for Derry this year who have arguably the best bunch of defenders in the country. He missed the Championship last year through suspension but heâs a fantastic defender and a guy to watch out for this coming year.
Rory Brennan will probably be a starter for Tyrone this year in the half back line, a very promising player.
I expect the team will shape up something like this:
- Beggan (Monaghan)
- Ricky Johnson (Antrim)
- McNamee (Tyrone)
- McKinless (Derry)
- McHugh (Donegal)
- Clarke (Cavan)
- Brennan (Tyrone)
- Grugan (Tyrone)
- McKeever (Antrim)
- Mooney (Down)
- Hughes (Monaghan)
- McAnespie (Monaghan)
- McBrearty (Donegal)
- OâBoyle (Derry)
- Regan (Mayo)
They probably wonât win it though, a lot of those players wonât really give a toss as they are key players in their county teams, the 15 there are all senior county panelists (with the exception of Grugan who probably would be if he made himself available) and theyâve a good 7 of 8 further county panelists on the bench
They could have more high profile players than may have been with their county panels during the McKenna Cup as well.
Ya most likely. Any dark horses on UCC team we may not be overly aware of?
Derry have the best defenders in Ireland?
Hahahahahaha.
Rogers, McKaigue, Sean Leo, Dermy McBride, McKinless.
Thatâs a yes for me.
Conor Gleeson from Waterford is one to look out for. A good footballer for The Nire too. Heâll be the only one of last years freshers to feature Iâd imagine.
Think UCC have a few injuries for tomorrow. OâDonnell and De Burca are definitely out.
Look this isnât even a discussion. I might as well say
London could win the All-Ireland this year.
What?
Langball is trying to tell us Derry have the best defenders in Ireland.
Yet they are probably not even the best defenders in Derry as apparently nobody wants to play for Derry but seemingly there is another team or more of lads better that who they have.
How is Colm Galvin eligible to play for Mary I this year? He was deemed ineligable last year and has been in there 5 years at this stage. Assume it was due to him doing repeats that he hadnât enough credits to play last year?
