The schools

Don’t know where the 80% claim is coming from. The results from the phase 3 clinical trials was 52% efficacy 14 days after the first dose. That’s right in the middle of the range for flu vaccine efficacy. The second dose resulted in 95% efficacy. It wouldn’t be unusual for efficacy to trend down a bit as the vaccines are rolled out.

I’m gonna have to call this a backtrack…

I’m gonna have to say you are talking scutter

Nail on the head there

On the mainland as theyve started to run short, they’ve sent round govt information leaflets stating that the majority of the protection is conferred by the first dose (so they can delay the second).

That’s crazy talk.

Everything was on track until that webinar. Apparantly Dr Ronan Glynn called them all a bunch of spineless dossers and all hell broke loose in the comments section

Sounds like the sort of behaviour during an online lesson that they’d be outraged at if their students did it

Preplanned, The Voice for Teachers was roaring

The WHO are on the case

But But But teacher’s holidays, but but but teachers lazy, but but but something about dossing from work

That’s the problem. At least one, if not both parents are affected trying to get the school work done. You end up focusing more on doing work with the child as, it’s your kids, kids comes first and work secondary. So you do the work as priority.

But that’s not sustainable. It also is frustrating as you know you’re falling behind in your professional work.

Additionally, we teach our kids plenty but we’re not trained to teach curriculum of one year let alone 2,3 or more depending on how many kids you have.

As you say, kids might be getting plenty of work and it’s getting done but are they really learning? How can we know if, speaking primary here, they’re not benchmarked with their peers? Education is ultimately about learning to learn more than just getting the answers. Not sure stressed parents giving up half a day + are the proper conduit for that learning process.

I’d agree with all that but right now there is not really any viable option to homeschooling. Not with the numbers as high as they are

Lads will surely have to cut back on tfk and start focusing on their kids and there actual jobs.

How many parents are giving up half a day on home schooling NS kids? Now many I’d say

We give ours a list of tasks to do… Some of which is homework, then jigsaws and colouring and drawing and stuff. But they do that largely unsupervised while I am working… Then they get maybe a focused hour each at 6 ó clock but they are tired at that stage and it’s like trying to herd sheep trying to get them to do anything

Missus only works part time so they get more attention 2 days a week

It’s not ideal but it’s all that can happen

Time management lads, we can have it all.

It definitely doesn’t suit lads to be having children.

They’re an awful imposition on day time internet surfing.

Some lads just arent able for it. As soon as they’re asked to raise and educate their own childer its game over.
