This has been on the cards ever since they went back. The school year will be done and dusted after the Easter holidays
It does beggar belief in fairness
They really shouldn’t have bothered apart from the leaving certs and the special needs to be honest. I totally accept the argument regarding children’s mental health etc. But this open/closed routine probably does them more harm than good.

The schools will be back after Easter, some schools may not obviously but for good reason.
It was he right decision to bring them back anyway even if it doesn’t work out, as for leaving certs and special needs children, either schools are relatively safe or they’re not.
Some schools are suggesting that kids t as ke home their books at Easter, seems like a sensible approach
As soon as nphet start talking about schools, it’s only going in one direction. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong and I have never criticised teachers during this thing and I certainly wont hold it against them if they decide to shut up shop after Easter.
I would have thought the same pre Xmas. Not a hope in hell they’d shut again.

My older lad has really struggled with the return to school. Tantrums and tears most mornings. He’s in sixth class. Once certain kids get into or out of a routine it gets tricky.
He has dyspraxia - the mask in secondary school already worries him he said as he’ll heat up with it. He doesn’t know he has dyspraxia as we never told him.
It has it’s funny moments as he’d lie under the sun bed on holiday rather than on it - for the shade

Word is teachers are planning to not go ahead with the oral examinations as they have been instructed they cannot wear a mask by the DOE
