I’m seething that we signed contracts on our new house on May 29 in 2016 and not after July 19.
Mother-fucker. The help to buy incentive would have been a nice little boost to savings.
Happened to us a few years ago - paid 16k in the May in stamp duty and it was scrapped in the July budget
If it helps, the seethe never leaves. I’m still pissed over it 12 years later

It’s subsided a bit now when I consider the fact that we got a great deal on the gaffe and the price probably would have went up if we waited any longer.

The bastards. We paid 45k stamp duty in 2006. It was scrapped a year or two later. Then a year after that the cunts came looking for property tax on the same house.
It’s bad enough riding me up the hole lads but is it really necessary to wipe your knob in my curtains afterwards?

We paid stamp duty in 2010. Think property tax came in 2011. The cunts!
I must say that I’d find being ridden up the hole a far worse imbroglio than someone wiping their knob on my curtains.
Why would people buy property when the govt change the rules of engagement nearly every 6 months. They have done incredible damage to the system. Most people wont buy unless there is some semblance of certainty in the market. 5,000 first time buyers last year tells its own story.
The grant will just push house prices up so I wouldn’t get too stressed. The ideal scenario would have been to buy before it was announced, but after the date they said it’d be back dated to but sure what can you do.

a “shed” storeroom for bikes which is locked, in the local train station. some fucker must have waiting for someone to open it to get their bike and pounced. no one around now until monday to check cctv but most likely done in dark so will be near impossible to id someone i’d say…
