The fact that Cork have a Lord Mayor tells you all you need to know about that place- They bang on about the WOI and being rebels etc. etc but the driving force behind Irish republicanism in the South, from fenians, I.R.B, I.R.A, Provos, C.I.R.A etc.etc has always been Limerick.

There’s not a county in Ireland with a record as rich in treachery as Cork. Their most famous son is the man who took British arms and turned them on his former comrades fighting for the same Ireland they fought for years earlier. Michael Collins is a stain on Ireland and Irish republicanism. A vicious psychopath, devoid of morals or principles and only interested in power. I can’t think of anything more comprehensive on the failings of the free state when they paint this man as some sort of hero while denigrating true patriots like the hunger strikers of 1981 or the Loughgall martyrs.
