The National - England

This is for Clarkey. The sort of song youā€™d never have heard of if you never went outside the mainstream. And life would have been measurably worse for not having heard it.

Belle and Sebastian. The boy with the Arab Strap.

Practise what you preach Fagan. Include the name of the song and artist please.

Sorry farmer

No worries Fagan.

I must say that I am surprised by your selection of that song as being a testament to non mainstream music. It is quite poppy and radio friendly. It is also not Belle et Sebastianā€™s best effort in my view, give me some stuff from their earlier albums.

Itā€™s a good illustration though for the likes of Clarkey though. Itā€™s not far from what you might hear on the radio but you would never hear that song on mainstream music shows. Might encourage him to explore more.

Wasnā€™t the song used as the theme for some UK drama series? Teachers I think.

You could well be right. Didnā€™t watch it.

+1 Way ahead of their time. Bass is numbingly good.

Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight

Super 70s soul. What a performer. Not sure if this is mainstream or obscureā€¦ Clarkey may confirm.

Joe Tex. Aint Gonna Bump No More.
