The Smashing Tunes Thread (Part 1)

Simply one of the greatest songs ever written by a 19 year old bird.

Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights

Music when the lights go out - Doherty does a great acoustic version.

I believe I read somewhere that Kate Bush also wanted to adapt Pride & Prejudice into a song but couldn’t get permission for the relevant parties. I would have thought seeing as it was over 100 years old it would have been ok to do what you wanted with it. Could have been beautiful.

Very much like Midlake, Roscoe would be my favourite track, thought they had broken up or something. Will await their new album with baited breath.

Van Occupanther is my favourite track of that album. So simple yet so utterly beautiful. Speaks to me as well.

While the album did get end of year lists, it didn’t get the credit it deserved. It’s an all time classic.

Not overly gone on The Shins but this is a smashing song.

That whole album is pretty good Farmer. I was obsessed with Phantom Limb for a few weeks, I was playing it about 15 times a day. Haven’t listened to it since but it’s a great song.
The two previous albums…they’re not bad as such but maybe a little boring. They don’t do it for me anyway.

One of the great lost songs from the 90s.

New Fads - Life Is An Accident

Under their previous ridiculous name

I did the same, read the lyrics, got confused, listened to the song again and again and again until I got sick of it. Rest of the album is very good alright.

Was looking to post Space (I Believe In) from Pixies and came across this ‘video’ for Planet of Sound. Bizarre.

Jefrey - with one ‘f’, Jefrey!

This is a B-Side mix of an single by Renegade Soundwave which happened to be in our house back in the day. Long since lost and I can’t find the B side anywhere on the web. Tried converting this video to a MP3 file but it won’t play. Darn it.

Anyway here is Renegade Soundwave (Whistling Guitar Mix) by Renegade Soundwave
