That’s fucking brilliant dude! Always been a big fan of his, so appreciate the story. He’s had a serious influence on music, from Pixies to Nirvana to Therapy. Great story on the ham too. Gay as Christmas and a roaster to boot.
Copper Blue was one of my favourite albums ever, strangely the stand out track was also the one with the most universal appeal (if I can’t change your mind)
Never warmed to husker du or the beaster album
Was talking to him bout what music he was into and it was mainly techno (sadly) at the time. Did a great solo show, playing Husker and Sugar tunes and seemed a nice lad when a load of us were being total fanboys while he was trying to chill out on a couch
I remember reading an interview with him where he recalled a friend taking him to a gig to see the “greatest live band in the world”. Turned out it was U2, and he ended up rolling around laughing “is this it?!”. I loved that, because I also think U2 are over-rated.
@backinatracksuit - Zen Arcade is a game changer. A stone cold classic.
School of Seven Bells have a nice new album out, for fans of dream pop.
After yesterday’s Mould talk, I dug out New Day Rising for a spin. Turns out I had it in my car that night in Galway as Bob the roaster gave a half-arsed scrawl on the sleeve
It’s great to see someone around here with some decent taste! Not many would be into hardcore punk
I’ve recently gone through a phase of playing my old favourites… Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Husker Du, Misfits. Frankenchrist would still be on my desert island discs. Makes you truly realise how ball-less and soul-less a lot of today’s music is.
You left Fugazi out of that list.
I had them in there, then took them out again. I was worried some fucking nerd would tell me “Fugazi were post-hardcore”
Great band… one of the best.
Fucking love Fugazi. They’re hardcore alright - it’s more the ethos than the sound and all that bullshit! Saw them live once and they were great
Saw Fugazi in Nancy Spain’s in Cork about 15 years ago, fucking amazing, T-Shirt was drenched in sweat.
Yeah I’d say it was around same time I saw - September 02 in Savoy, Limerick. Great lads
Great shout. Great band. Wonderful live.
This was part of a compilation given away with select magazine many years ago, this particular piano version is the one that appeared, it is awesome in my opinion

Fucking hell, Bob Mould, there’s someone I had completely and utterly forgotten about. To YouTube quicksmart!
