New music from Massive Attack. First sounds a bit Radioheady, but both very good. Videos as always brilliant, Rosamund Pike in Voodoo in my Blood, just making it an even better offering.
Do I know you, bro?
I donât think so, was it the Sneaker Pimps that gave you that idea??
I do live in Limerick and itâs a small town.
Not the band no - Yes, Limerick is a small town and lads that are into GAA, cooking and decent music are few and far between . Iâll track you down yet âŚ
As an aside, you mentioned Nancy Spains a few posts up, when did that close? Was drinking nearby on Saturday, didnât realise the doors had been shut.
Nancyâs is closed years now, it was a fantastic pub in the early to mid 90s, many great gigs out the back and an owner/barmaid that every young lad in Cork had a hard on for. It was opened around the back (side entrance) for a while but i havenât been inside in years. I used to frequent a pub called the Liberty down on South Main street, it was a great pub where the Frank and Walters/ Sultans of Ping and every other decent band in Cork drank. I believe itâs reopening in some form sometime soon after 15 years. Tom Barryâs across the road from Nancy Spains is a nice spot these days
We used to go down to Cark for De Jazz Festival every year from WRTC (and a debate at UCC on the Thursday night) in the early 90âs. All of Friday and Saturday afternoonâs would be spent in Nancy Spains, a few hundred having a session with a doobie constantly passed around. Fucking cracking pub it was, I was very sorry to hear it closed a few years ago, there was some trouble involving the criminal fraternity that led up to the closing wasnât there? Always a collection of âcolourfulâ characters in there.
Any particular Frightened Rabbit youâd recommend over the rest? Thatâs a great tune. Smashing, even.
I posted one over on the religion thread for @Tassotti thatâs my personal favorite. The Midnight Organ Fight is brilliant from start to finish, and The Winter of Mixed Drinks has some great songs.
Thanks pal
Ride are one of my favourite bands ever, criminally underrated in the main. Sad to think that Andy Bell is better known as the bassist with a declining Oasis.
I actually love their Britpop style album Carnival of light, Hereâs one of my favourites that wouldnât be so well known

10 fucking stars
To me a truly great album shocks upon first listen. The shock can be due the sheer originality and not necessarily wonderfully flowing chord progression. It doesnât get much more shocking than this in my view.
