Any particular Frightened Rabbit youā€™d recommend over the rest? Thatā€™s a great tune. Smashing, even.

I posted one over on the religion thread for @Tassotti thatā€™s my personal favorite. The Midnight Organ Fight is brilliant from start to finish, and The Winter of Mixed Drinks has some great songs.

Ride are one of my favourite bands ever, criminally underrated in the main. Sad to think that Andy Bell is better known as the bassist with a declining Oasis.
I actually love their Britpop style album Carnival of light, Hereā€™s one of my favourites that wouldnā€™t be so well known

To me a truly great album shocks upon first listen. The shock can be due the sheer originality and not necessarily wonderfully flowing chord progression. It doesnā€™t get much more shocking than this in my view.

One of my favourite albums of all time. To continue on with the ā€˜who Iā€™ve metā€™ thread of Bob Mould, I met Dave Pajo twice (about a week apart). Nice enough lad - the first time I was pissed as a fart and we got a photo taken with him with a massive grin; he looked a bit fed up with our company (understandably) at that stage. The next time was a week later when I was doing some work with a band playing with Slint. I was sober as a judge and was too embarrassed to talk to him again.

I try to get a bit of Spiderland every day. I listened to nearly the whole album yesterday evening in the car and pieces of it this morning on the Luas. There is so much about it which I simply adore and wouldnā€™t know where to start describing it. Albiniā€™s review would sum it up nicely though.

I saw them in August 2014 in the Button Factory. Probably my favourite gig ever. Astounding. As I type this the heartbreaking melody of Washer is in my head. Wow.

Itā€™s great. Saw them live in 04 in the UK when they reformed and then a week later in Dublin. Caught them again in Barcelona in 07 when they did Spiderland in its entirety at a festival. They then played some naff new tune after that and I walked away. Havenā€™t seen them since. Poor ol Pajo had a bad year last year and Iā€™d be surprised if they did shows again.

Yeah - I got a shock when I read of his suicide attempt. It was always McMahan who was the troubled one.

Glenn is another non album cracker from them. I think Albini was twindling the knobs for that.

Yeah that two track EP is a cracker. I think Glenn refers to the missing parent that wasnā€™t included on that track titles on Tweez.

I would like to say I heard Tweez before Spiderland but thatā€™s not the case.

It is quite a let down in comparison. Not sure whether it is a case of Tweez being poor and Spiderland being immense - bit of both I would say.

Thanks to @farmerinthecity and @caulifloweredneanderthal for mentioning Albini. Hadnā€™t heard this gem in a whileā€¦
