Ding finally catches a break as Selby misses an awkward blue along the cushion, that would have been very cruel. 6-1.
he’s starting to settle a bit now, there must be savage pressure on him, half a billion watching in China apparently
I doubt anyone has ever had such pressure. He has to win this frame.
6-2
Tremendous bottle shown by Ding there, sets us up for a good session later on.
Funnily enough even though he leads 6-2, Selby will probably be more disappointed. Ding was on the ropes at 6-0 and one more frame for Selby could have been a knock out blow. Ding did well to get last two frames.
Steve Davis just mentioned the incident where Ding nearly started crying after winning his first frame as a major sign of mental wekaness
7-3
7-4
Wouldn’t necessarily agree with that, think it was just more a release of tension after a truly awful start. Its 7-4 now and its not that long ago since Selby had a blue to go 7-0 up. Ding has re-discovered his form of the last three weeks and that was a very fluid 103 century.
Nice century from Ding, he’s warming to the task now.
7-5
Quite the turnaround from Selby jawing what was effectively a blue to go 7-0 up to Ding winning 5 of the last 6 to cut Selby’s lead to 7-5.
That was a great frame for Ding to win after such a long safety battle. Game very much on now.
What’s the QI answer anybody?
What was as rare as hens teeth in the 80s and are ten a penny now?
147’s
Yeah, bit of a disappointing question but it’s true, 50 so far this decade and only 8 in the 80s
Ding cuts Selby’s lead to 8-6 with a break of 86.
Selby needs a snooker here or it’s 8-7, some comeback by Ding.
Selby potted a pink to leave himself requiring two snookers, he’s got one and has Ding on the ropes here. Pivotal passage of play in this final going on here.
