The Snooker Thread (Part 1)

Doherty 52-8 down in the decider when Hamilton tried to roll up behind the brown after potting a red. He inexplicably left it short so now Ken’s put him back in and Hamilton’s left himself snookered at 52-12 up.

What a fucking break by Doherty. A brilliant 62 under severe pressure to win it after being 52-8 down in the decider. Some sensational shots in there and that must be one of the best breaks of his career. Well done Ken. :ireland:

Doherty held his nerve very well there but Hamilton will have nightmares about leaving the cue ball short on that brown. Terrible mistake.

Dour tactical battle between Mark Selby and Graeme Dott (surprise) here on BBC2. Looking like a respotted black with the score at 4-4, first to 6 wins.

5-4 to Dott now, hopefully Selby wins the last two frames. Could last till 2 o fucking clock at this rate

That was surely match ball for Dott and he missed it.

Dott made a bollix of that brown, 5-5 now.

Dott made a bollix of a safety shot and it looks like costing him the match now.

A wonderful plant from Selby to seal victory, good riddance to that detestable little creep Dott. Should be a cracking final tomorrow against Robertson.

There were some good matches this week.

Selby takes the first 2 frames this evening and is only 3 away from victory.

He leads 7-3

Robertson has won the last three frames. Score now 8-6 to Selby. Standard is poor enough but it’s enthralling stuff all the same.

Neil Robertson has just come back from a toilet break at 52-6 and 9-6 down.

Selby wins 10-6. Robertson took lots of risky shots on. Didn’t come off for him. Selby held his nerve better.

The World Snooker Shoot-Out starts tonight at 6 o’clock on sky sports 2. The one frame format means the action comes thick and fast and there are sure to be plenty of shocks, as the two previous winners of this tournament Nigel Bond and Barry Hawkins prove.

Defending champion Hawkins is first up against the venerable Steve Davis, Fergal O’Brien plays Alan McManus tonight while Ken Doherty faces world #1 Mark Selby tomorrow. Unfortunately Neil Robertson and Judd Trump have chosen not to play in this event. The full draw is here…

Hawkins defeats Steve Davis in a thriller, sinking the yellow with 7 seconds left to record a 44-42 victory. Mark Williams and Mark Allen had facile victories while Anthony Hamilton provided the first shock of the night knocking out world #10 Stuart Bingham.

Ronnie O’Sullivan is ending his sabbatical from the game and will defend his world title at the Crucible.

Rocket returns!

Neil Robertson beat Mark Selby 10-6 in the final of the China Open. That’s 10 different winners of the 10 rankings events so far this season. Robertson & Selby have been the two most consistent players over the season and look like the men to beat at the Crucible.

What are you? Huh? Get lost ta fuck.
