The Snooker Thread (Part 1)

This is Selby’s year. The Jester has the game to take down the big one and has been ultra consistent this year, he’s drifted out to 13/2 on the back of this mornings defeat, now is the time to back him.

Ah here, the last guy on here named after a baseball park was chased off by the bullies, give yer man a break ffs.

Great pun

Round 3 of the Qualifiers for the World Championship well under way. Players seeking to win through to the final round of qualifiers to face the 17-32 seeded players for a place at the Crucible.

After yesterday’s win over Tian Pengfei, Jimmy White is back in action against another Chinese player today, Xiao Guadong. Good morning for the 6 times defeated finalist, leading 6-3 going into tonights session.

Steve Davis is 4-4 with Norway’s, Kurt Maflin.

Alan McManus had an epic 10-9 win over India’s Aditya Mehta late last night out and starts his match against Nigel Bond this afternoon.

How’s Ken Doherty doing?

10-4 win for the Whirlwhind. He’ll win the World title yet.

Doherty only has to win one qualifier to make it to the Crucible. Same for Fergal O’Brien and all players seeded 17-32.

Final Round of qualifying to be played Saturday & Sunday. Full line up is as follows:

Ryan Day v Ben Woollaston
Andrew Higginson v Michael White
Ken Doherty v Matthew Selt
Fergal O’Brien v Jack Lisowski
Jamie Cope v Dechawat Poomjaeng
Michael Holt v Mark Joyce
Marco Fu v David Gilbert
Tom Ford v Alan McManus
Martin Gould v Rod Lawlor
Mark Davis v Liang Wenbo
Mark King v Yu De Lu
Marcus Campbell v Liam Highfield
Joe Perry v Sam Baird
Dominic Dale v Alfie Burden
Peter Ebdon v Kurt Maflin
Robert Milkins v Jimmy White

Really tough draw for Fergal against the young Jackpot Lisowski, I’d fancy Ken to come through against Selt.

Ken Doherty & Fergal O’Brien both trailing 6-3 after the first session of play.

Jimmy 5-2 down :frowning:

Jimmy was 6-2 down but won the final frame of the session to give himself some chance going into tonight at 6-3 down.

O’Brein is out, beaten 10-4 by Lisowski. Thailand’s Dechawat Poomyaeng upset Jamie Cope 10-3 and will also be making his Crucible debut with Lisowski. Marco Fu, Michael White and Michael Holt also qualified while world #35 Ben Woolaston beat Ryan Day 10-9 in a cliffhanger to book his place in the first round.

Ken trails Matthew Selt 9-8 in their qualifier but he’s at the table and 10-1 up in this frame. Bet365 are streaming it live.

Disaster strikes as Ken goes in off when opening up the reds leaving one over the pocket. He’s 16 ahead but the balls are wide open for Selt to clear up and win the match:(

Doherty 37-7 up as I type, still 8-9 in frames

53-7 now, Doherty got very lucky with Selt missing that red over the pocket. Commentator saying that the players will be brought off and the final frame will be played later:eek:

Could they not just have 33 players in the finals?

Doherty reels off 5 frames in a row to make it 9-9, players staying out there and we will see the final frame:clap:

Unreal stuff from Ranelagh’s finest. He’s a street fighter.

Terrific stuff from Ken. Shades of his 2003 semi final comeback against Paul Hunter and indeed the final comeback against Mark Williams.
