The Snooker Thread (Part 1)

Hopefully now that heā€™s through he may up his game.

A big hope granted.

Like this? Selby is the most horrible player to watch full stop. Makes Ebdon look like the Flash.

Painful to watch. Same approach as Ebdon, Feargal Oā€™Brien, Graeme Dott. Bore the opponent into making a mistake.

Ah here. Selby is a much better player than Ebdon.

I enjoy watching Selby. Great all round game and a granite temperment. It is sad to see how poor his game is at the moment.

Itā€™s possible of course but just cant see it. His form since winning his third world championship has been poor. He occasionally showed some form but the consistency is no longer there.

His performance in the World final a few years back against Ronnie was utterly superb.

4th seed Mark Allen on the brink here. Jamie Clarke leading 9-8 and in prime position in Frame 18.

Forum favourite John Higgins 5-3 down vs Kurt Maflin

Finally some good news.

Stephen Maguire on the brink, trailing Martin Gould 2-9. Heā€™s going to win Frame 12 though, knocked in first 12 reds and blacks but 147 gone as he runs out of position.

Maguire and Allen are 2 seriously disappointing players.

Maguire has lost in the first round on 9 of his 17 appearances at the Crucible. He tends to get very down on himself and frustrated when things start going against him.

Allen has lost 5 times in Round 1 and 5 times in Round 2 in his 14 appearances at the Crucible.

The new glasses seem to be working wonders for Martin Gould. Saw him interviewed after qualifying and he said that heā€™d had a tough time recently and that the lockdown helped him.

Heā€™s a decent little player is Martin. A tough opponent for anyone.

That defeat to eventual world champions, Neil Robertson in 2010 took Gould a long time to get over. Led 6-0, 11-5, 12-7 before losing the last 6 frames to lose the match 13-12.

A 147 from the Wizard of Wishaw

Now get after this Maflin punk

Cā€™mon Johnny Bhoy

Whatā€™s your beef with Kurt Maflin? Seems like a good guy. Canā€™t imagine him hanging around in dodgy hotels in Kiev with shady characters bringing the sport into disrepute.

My beef is that he is threatening to eliminate a forum favourite.

Whatā€™s a forum favourite? He may be a favourite of the Pretend IRA/Glasgow Celtic lobby.

Snooker enthusiasts on the forum largely despise Higgins for how he has shamed the sport and brought it into disrepute.
