The Snooker Thread (Part 1)

Ronnie in action in some final on Eurosport 2 at the moment for those at a loose end.

Ah, twas only a round match. He’s won already.

Jimmy White’s latest quest for that elusive first World Championship commences tomorrow morning with Ian Burns providing the opposition.

Steve Davis teetering on the brink, he’s 9-8 behind to Craig Steadman and Steadman is 30 points ahead in Frame 18.

This is a splendid safety battle.

And still the safety battle goes on.

The Nugget forces a free ball!

Undoubtedly the crack game of the second qualifying round is the clash of the young continental tyros, Asia V Europe. Belgian wunerkid Luca Brecel V Yu Delu, the Chinese protege who recently handed Ronnie O’Sullivan his arse. It’s a shame one of them has to lose.

Great pot on the blue has surely won it ow for Steadman. The Nugget needs two snookers on the pink.

A fresh air shot from the Nugget and it’s all over.

That is Steve Davis off the main tour.
He will have to go qualifying school to get back on, at 56 year of age will he want to?

An unmitigated disaster for Jimmy. Trails Ian Burns 9-3.

Oh dear. Why did you do it, Jimmy? Why did you miss that black off its spot?

Ken Doherty playing on Tuesday

Final round of qualifiers start tomorrow. The 17-32 ranked players enter the fray, including four former world champions - Ken Doherty, Mark Williams, Peter Ebdon & Graeme Dott.

Doherty playing Dechawat Poomjaeng who beat Craig Steadman who beat Steve Davis. Poomjaeng will be a tricky opponent. He surprised Stephen Maguire in the first round at the Crucible last year.
