The Snooker Thread (Part 1)

Ken Doherty and David Morris both 8-5 ahead in their respective games and requiring two more frames to book a date in the second qualifying round.

Earlier Josh Boileau was dismissed 10-2 by Matthew Stevens, very tough first world championship qualifying game for the European U-21 champion.

The dream is over for another year.

Jimmy White lost 10-9 to Gerard Greene after being 9-7 up.

I think next year will be Jimmy’s year, though.

Doherty and Morris both safely through.

Fergal is leading the legendary Steve Davis 6-2 at the moment.

He’s made it 7-2 in the last frame of the sessions.

8-4 to Fergal now. Greg Casey 9-4 down to Ding Junhui, good effort from him.

Ken Doherty leads Hossein Vafaei Ayouri 7-2 after the first session, David Morris is locked 4-4 with Alan McManus after theirs.

Morris eventually went down 10-6.

Fergal O’Brien has recovered from a nightmare start against world number 58 Zhou Yuelong. He has clawed back a 6-1 deficit to trail 6-3 at the end of the session.

O’Brien was beaten 10-6. The hopes of the nation now rest on the shoulders of Ken Doherty who faces Welsh veteran and world number 20 Ryan Day for a place at The Crucible.

Peter Ebdon reeled off 7 consecutive frames to come from 3-9 down to beat Gerard Greene 10-9.

Ken edges the first session 5-4, you can see this one going all the way to the wire tomorrow.

Lightening strikes twice for Thepchaiya Un-Nooh this season as for the second time he misses the final black after amassing 140 of a 147 maximum.

He’s lost the first four frames of the evening session and Ryan Day now leads 8-5.

Ken threw away a winning position in the last frame and is now on the brink trailing 9-6.

All over 10-6 :frowning:

Terrific to see two former champions Peter Ebdon and Graeme Dott make it to the Crucible.

Mixed fortunes for two former twice beaten finalists. Ali Carter advances, Matthew Stevens is out.

Alan McManus and Ding Junhui through as well.
