The Snooker Thread (Part 2)

He’s finding a bit rhythm now!

Aaaand fucks it!

Barring something mental, Trump will win here. That’ll be 15 ranking events in a row with 15 different winners

Judd will win worlds imho

Fair awkward frame here. 6 reds practically on the bottom cushion

Ah no, that’s terrible news. I was only wondering during the Masters how long we’d continue to hear him.

What a handsome man. What a Manchester accent. Even at 79, he still give off incredible vibes of effortless cool. A legend of our sport, the greatest sport, snooker.

Thank you John Virgo.

Great sporting commentators regulate our lives and give them meaning. They are pieces of the fabric of our lives. They are friends we turn to in times of difficulty. They are the literal narrators of the most contented moments in our lives. When they die, a little piece of us is ripped out.

Their deaths make us long for the past and resent the future. Their deaths make us realise that our own lives are now regulated by the constant tick tock of the deaths of people we like and love.

Any excuse

Was he commentating till recently? So many commentators between bbc and itv i get mixed up

He commentated on the Masters final a couple of weeks ago.

I’d say he was on a reduced schedule but he was usually out for the final sessions of big games definitely.

Even in the world of snooker commentary, which is the best commentated on sport around, he was excellent

‘He’s got to be careful here that he doesn’t canon the red on the side cushion…… that was always the danger!!’

Such comments were commonplace usually from Virgo or Taylor.
