The Stadiums of the World Thread 🐐

ah yes the gaelic grounds, famous for hosting non descript NFL finals at 7pm on a Sunday night as they clashed with munstershire / team toyota games kick off times
it hasnt been full since the days of Mick mackey in fairness, Limerick would do a lot better if they just played their home games in Kilamallock

what dump is that

Pairc Ui chaoimh? its worse than you make out

I’ve long since given up on trying to convert the uninitiated mate, particularly coke snorting, tracksuit wearing pikies from Tallaght.

+1 great post

as i said earler, Anderlect’s old stadium with hordes of riot police with dogs gaurding the away fans behind barbed wire is what a stadium should resemble… european knockout football competitions in the 80’s and early 90’s hold a special place in my heart.
Roy Race and Melchester Rovers once went to play such a team in belgium and a few of their fans were arrested after they got off the ferry, i think it was just after Andy Maclaren signed for them and they beat Melborough to win the league. Johnny Dexter was sent off that night i remember

Yeah, there’s mountains right outside of the south side of Cork city… jesus, but you are some geographically retarded cunt.

It’s the mighty Fitzgearld Stadium.
You gotta love that a shithole back of beyond county like Kerry can have a stadium that any LoI soccerball club in Dublalin would jizz themselves to have. Really illustrates how retarded and backward the soccerball crowd in Ireland are.

sorry it was Carford City they beat and not Melboro to win the league in 1989

to be honest most football clubs would want stadiums appropriate to the crowds they get.that stadium there is hardly ever full - most of the time its 20% full- Also its got 2 terraces and is 75% uncovered - its woeful

If Fianna Fail wernt so corrupt and wernt in cahoots with the church and the GGA all other sports in Ireland would have better facilities that the GGA

Your fingers nails must be fucked from scraping the ends of barrels you poor cunt Tase

off the top of my head- all the following Irish football stadiums are better than that ground in Kerry
Celtic Park
Windsor Park
The Aviva

what a ground!!

was up there for NI vs Wales in 2006 and Linfield vs cork city in 2007, the barbed wire covered alleyway that the away fans need to walk down to get to their section is a credit to irish football association

Celtic and Windsor Parks are British me auld segosha. The Aviva is a Rugger stadium. The Soccerball Assoc of Ire don’t even own their own national stadium. How pathetic is that?

Right lads time to lay off TASE and let him get a good nights sleep-he’s getting an awful chasing here the poor fucker.

i agree with that. the leg room is diabolical down which is my main bugbear but i remember the munster hurling finals of 96,97 and i think 01 where tipp bate lk as being classic Pairc Ui C days. there is no atmosphere to beat the place when it is heaving, not in thurlas and certainly not in the Gaelic Grounds which may have been modernised but is a sterile kip and a horrible place to watch a match. if your enjoyment of watching a match is spoiled by the long walk from your car or the poor pissing facilities then you are there for the wrong reasons.
if you want a nice place to take a piss at half time then the grand canal theatre is your place.

That wouldn’t be a good idea as there are no toilets in Fitzgerald Stadium.

Pairc Ui Chaoimh is, as Michael says, the most atmospheric stadium in Ireland when full.

The old Lansdowne Road was miles better than the new one, which is a soul destroying, spirit crushing corporate shithole, like 99% of other new stadiums built in the last 20 years.

While much superior to the D4 Arena, much the same can said of the new Croke Park in comparison to its predecessor. I particularly despise the vast upper Canal End and its invariably vast bank of empty seats, with the roof denying natural light to half the stadium and blocking out the formerly beautiful view of the Dublin mountains as well as having done away with other landmarks like that scoreboard which showed only the points tally - the one with the man inside manually changing the score, and the Toyota clock.

Cork v Dublin 1983 the most classic of all

The Gaelic Grounds is a godawful place to watch a match. Thurles, full, on Munster final day, is the best stadium in the world-fact.

a lad I work with here is a big rugby fan- he saw Ireland play Autralia a few year at croker- he broke his shit laughing when I responded no to his question whether it was finished yet

That’s the sort of tired old unoriginal humour that would play well in Oz alright. Did ye then delve into an anti-abbo rant afterwards?

abbo? you racist pig

my mate is indigenous Australian so he didnt delve into an “anti abbo” rant
