The Tennis Thread

Thought it was bad form that Thiem did that, He could have seen out the set. It was a mental thing with Thiem today, he had the doctor and physio on and the physio just stood there and gave him some coffee jelly beans. The doctor gave him something.

Yes. He was injured.

Only 3 players currently operating under the age of 30 have made a slam final. Thiem is the youngest of them so if he is underachieving, I perish to think what the rest of them are.

Zverev going to a deciding set.

Hewitt having a go at Tomic. Australian tennis is nuts.

Alex de Minaur (27) –v- Rafael Nadal (2)

The Nadal/De Minuar and Djokovic/Shapovalov will be interesting. Think Nadal and Djokovic will have too much for them but would like to see the youngsters can push them.

Straight sets win for the Great Man over Taylor Fritz. Stefanos Tsitsipas next in Round 4.

Murray undergoing hip surgery. Why did he even mention retirement already? What a fucking drama queen.

All over in this Nadal match. Thought De minaur would put up more of a fight

Cilic has lost the first set v Verdasco.

Berdych will be a big test for Nadal in R4.

Cilic has come from two sets down to force a decider.

Djokovic through to the last 16. Dropped the third set against Shapovalov. Rising star of the men’s game, Borna Coric through as well.

Federer stopped from entering his changing room because he had no id with him. Fair play to the security guard, how was he to know that the old fella was Federer.

Impressive straight sets victory for Nadal over Berdych this morning. Thought Berdych would have really tested him this morning. He faces Tiafoe in the quarters. Federer in action against Tsitispas shortly.

Odd that you thought that about Berdych. He’s pushing 34, has slid down the rankings to 57, can barely move now with his long standing back problem that saw him only return to action a few weeks ago after missing the last 6 months of 2018 including the Championship and US Open. He’s in the retirement lounge as well. Try and keep up with what’s current in tennis if you want to last the pace here.

Tsitsipas has all the shots and incredible movement. Federer will do well to come out of this. Going with serve so far in the first set. 4-3 to the Greek.

The Great Man takes a high quality first set 13-11 in the tie breaker.

Federer heavily reliant on his serve. Still yet to break Tsitispas despite the fact he’s only getting in a first service rate of 56%.
