That’s what makes him the GOAT in my eyes. The serious injuries he has overcome time and time again to continue to compete with Federer and Djokovic is remarkable. I think at this stage it’s between himself and Djokovic to retire with the most slams. Federer is waning big time - I can’t see him winning another. One more Wimbledon at most and not a hope will that hold off Nadal and Djokovic. Sunday is huge for Rafa.

I think Rafa has to win tomorrow, psychologically more than anything. You never know with his body, certainly the way he has adjusted his game now and the way he manages his schedule have helped in that regard.

Sooner or later these young guys are going to click though, Medvedev is showing it now and the likes of FAA, Shapovalov, Zverev and Tsitsipas are surely going to get it together mentally at some point so you have to make these opportunities count.

Serena on the verge of bottling it again. Look life a 4th slam final defeat in a row for her.

She’s about three stone overweight and nearly 38. Any young player worth her salt in the top 20 that’s not intimidated by her and makes her move around the court should be more than capable of beating her.

She’s very hefty looking alright, even moreso than usual.

I can see Serena end up resenting her daughter, she just can’t lose that baby fat and there’s no doubt about it that she would have beaten Margaret Court’s record if she hadn’t got pregnant.

Serena has broken back at start of second. Andreescu needs to keep her head and not get psyched out. IF she plays her game the way she did in the first set she’ll win it.

Serena looks on the verge of tears everytime a bad break goes against her.

She’s fucked. There’s a core of 8 to 10 players there now 10-15 and more years younger than her who don’t fear her and have the game to beat her. She’s going to find it increasingly difficult to win that elusive 24th to draw level with Margaret Court. Probably going to take an opponent doing a Jana Novotna for her to do it.

There simply has to be a mental edge to it though. She is cruising through to finals but then collapses against who ever gets a run to the final. Surely she would be flapping out in the earlier rounds if it wasn’t mental.

2018 Wimbledon - loses 1 set on way to final, loses in straight sets to Kerber, a 3rd slam.
2018 US Open - loses 1 set on way to final, loses in straight sets to Osaka who claims her first slam.
2019 Wimbledon - loses 2 sets on way to final, loses in straight sets to Halep who wins her second slam.
2019 US Open, loses one set on way, looks like she’s going to lose in straight sets to Andreescu to win her first slam.

Kerber, Osaka, Halep are all proper players who have the game to beat her and won’t be intimidated by her. 80-90% of opponents are beaten before they go on court.

I’d never seen Andreescu before tonight but had read a lot of positive things about her. Mind you, the Jana Novotna could be on here now.

But there are plenty of players she has met enroute to those finasl that also have the game to beat her and they haven’t.

She has the double break back.

Is that Royal family lass one of the WIlliams sisters?

From 1-5 to 5-5.

Good hold for Andreescu for 6-5.

Andreescu wins 6-3 7-5

Serena is more likely to have a Jana Novotna moment in a final than her opponents.
