That was very nearly one of the biggest bottle jobs you’ll ever see. Limerick in 2018-esque by Rafa
Simply incredible stuff.
Nearly never did anything.
Is Tom Brady playing tonight? Tom’s 6 is Nadals 28
Let’s goooo, do your job.
You called it a bottle job 5 minutes ago mate
Medvedev is only the start. He will give the next gen the encouragement to start doing it now.
He won, he showed immense courage to dig it out with all that happened before it.
The win is all that matters
BREAKING NEWS NADAL BEAT A NOBODY IN A FINAL
DRUG NADAL WINS 19 MAJORS BEAT A NOBODY AND EX DRUGS CHEATS HAVE TO DOPE MORE.
The GOAT.
Incredible stuff.
I’m going to paint the outside of my house black and purple in celebration of this.
Medvedev is a lovely chap. Vlad has raised a good young man.
He’s the future.
That could be the most pivotal of wins for Nadal’s legacy. I genuinely don’t think there will be that many more chances of Nadal, Djokovic and particularly Federer. They are getting older and the next gen are gradually going to get there.
It doesn’t look great particularly for Djokovic, he needs 4 to draw level with Federer, he’s now 3 behind Nadal too and when you look at the next gen players like Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Rublev, Berrettini, Shapovalov and FAA, they are all players best equipped for hard courts. That is Djokovic’s bread and butter.
Nadal, Djokovic and Federer need short and easy games in the early part to allow them to progress to the latter stages of the slams. That’s going to get harder and harder to achieve now, I wouldn’t be surprised to see all the big 3 have at least one early exit from a slam each next year.
Medvedev has arrived and that will give his next gen compatriots the confidence and belief they need to make the step up. Most of them will feel they are better or as good as him and as we’ve seen in Nadal, Djokovic and Federer - they all push each other to the next level.
What stands for Nadal is that he is still the best clay court player in the game and he will hope he can add one or two more RG before calling it a day. I think last night could be his last non clay slam though.
Excellent synopsis. Nadal is the greatest of all time and last night confirmed it.
Has anyone seen @tazdedub?
He briefly came on to tell us the crowd were booing Nadal last night and then left.
Strange I didn’t hear any booing of Nadal. I did hear booing off the umpire who went on a power trip and tried to derail nadals bid for number 19. Thankfully Rafa overcame the dark forces that were at work again.
