ATP Rankings are out today after the US Open. No real changes in the rankings except Medvedev moving to number 4.
Nadal almost certain to end the year as no 1. He has no points to defend now until the year end. Djokovic has 2,600.

Another title for Medvedev today, he’ll probably close out the year as the world no 3 at this rate.
He has entered 5 competitions since Wimbledon finished and has reached finals in all, winning two and losing three.

Rafa has pulled out of the Shanghai Masters with a wrist injury.
He departs the outdoor hard court season with a 21-2 record comprising of a US Open title, Masters 1000 and final appearance at the Australian Open. He actually has better win ratio outside of clay this year than on clay.
Andy Murray lost to Dominic Thiem this morning in China but he showed more encouraging signs knocking Berrettini and Norrie along the way. It’s really all about getting as many games as he can under his belt now before the Australian Open.
Thiem through to the China Open final after beating Karen Khachanov in a 3 set epic. It was a game of the highest quality.
Tsitsipas and Zverev up next in the other semi final.
I think next year is when the next gen will finally make their mark.

Both lads are a little too emotional though and until they curb that they won’t win a slam.

Tsitsipas just taken the second set against Djokovic, goes to a deciding set now.
Tsitsipas has been serving excellently all game but he has been a little too passive on Djokovic’s serve. He finaly breaks him for 7-5 in the second but it was more a few uncharacteristic Djokovic errors that caused it.
Medvedev won the earlier game and awaits the winner.

Tsitsipas really upping it now, he has broke Djokovic and leads 4-1 in the 3rd set.
We’re going to see a slam winner outside of Feder/Nadal/Djokovic next year and I think there’s a good chance we’ll see at least one slam final without any of the three of them in it.
Tsitsipas one game away now and with the way he has served all game then it’s hard to see Djokovic get an opportunity.

I think they’re coming to that age now and Medvedev is the catalyst for it.
