Another break point for Sinner.

Sinner breaks again.

Nadal in big bother. It’s quite a while since he’s won a slam game where he lost the first set.

Thiem at the 2018 US Open is the last time I think he’s won a slam match after losing the first set.

Huge hold there for Sinner. Moves to 4-2.

Nadal being beaten up here.

Shots falling far too short.

Sinner tightened up there but it’s notable that Nadal’s shots are barely making it outside the service box.

3 break points for Nadal as Sinner serves for the set.

Sinner bottled that one.

Nadal grinds it out, more thanks to a Sinner collapse there.

He’s definitely being bullied out there and his forehand is not working for him.

Nadal really upped it now, playing really well, forehand firing, getting the length of his returns and now doing the bullying.

6 double faults for Nadal so far.

Double fault no 7 from Nadal and we’re only in the 2nd set.

Meltdown from Nadal here.

Was leading 4-0 and now Sinner has broken back twice. Such a bizarre performance from him, excellent in spells and error strewn in other parts.

Nadal breaks back and serves for the second set.

Nadal closes out the third set comfortably. 6-0.

Mixed performance though, first set was iffy and Sinner blew it rather than Nadal winning it. Nadal then upped it in the second but had a blip at 4-0 and lost three on the trot but the won the last 8 games of the match.

Sinner was disappointing. Showed what he can do in the first set but lost belief in himself too quickly. Sinner has a lot more tools to cause Nadal bother than say Schwartzman has.

Expect Nadal to beat Schwartzman but would be preferable if he can do it without dropping a set and be fresh for the Djokovic challenge. Think Zverev could potentially be Nadal’s toughest challenge here, he’s playing really well and has a good record against Nadal.

Bottom line, a 34 and 35 year old were way fitter than two 19 year olds, players 15 and 16 years their junior. Tennis is in a very bad place.

Sports stars are generally lasting longer these days.

Look at Messi and Ronaldo. Historically it’s the players who never relied on their pace that had long careers. Messi and Ronaldo have a game where speed is really important as to how they play.

Nadal doesn’t really have 5 sets in him anymore. The last 5 set game he won was Medvedev in 2019.

The new gen of Zverev, Medvedev and Tsitsipas are now finally beginning to play to their seedings more and more

Medvedev has made 2 finals and a semi in his last 5 slam appearances. It’s a QF or better in RG to add to that this year.

Tsitsipas is looking to make it his third SF in his last 4 slams tonight.

Zverev won comfortably today securing a SF spot so it’s a final, two SF appearances and a quarter in his last 6 slams.

Medvedev and Tsitsipas should be a good one tonight, a shame no fans will be present. There’s a lot of needle between these two.

I’m going to tip Medvedev here.

Think he will frustrate the hell out of Tsitsipas.

Looking forward to this match. 6-1 in the head to head to Medvedev.

Nobody just hammers the ball out of nowhere quite like Medvedev.

Good start from Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas takes the first set but you can see Medvedev getting into it towards the end of the set.
