Another mini break for Chung for 4-3. Making heavy work of closing this out. Lot of chances in this 3rd set.
Chung wins 7-6 7-5 7-6. He’ll face fellow unseeded player Tennys Sandgren in the quarter final.
Quarter final line up-
Grigor Dimitrov vs Kyle Edmund
Rafael Nadal vs Marin Cilic
Tomas Berdych vs Roger Federer
Tennys Sandgren vs Hyeon Chung
So Federer has a chance of making a grand slam final without facing any of the top 19 players in the world?
The draw was obviously rigged too, fucking disgraceful what he’s getting away with.
LOL lads ya have to do better than that.
I was reading back on Boycott’s comment regarding Nadal and his 2017 US Open triumph. He was obsessed with the fact Nadal didn’t face a higher ranked player than World no 28 and former US open champion Juan Martin Del Potro.
I’m expecting a similar obsession now.
Federer is 37 in August mate. I don’t think you need to worry about him winning any more Grand Slams at this stage.
He couldn’t, could he ?
Federer if he makes it to the final will face one of the worlds Top 6, probably the number 1 or 3 seed. There’ll be no Kevin Anderson in the final. This 21 year old Korean is a real rising star. I’d give him every chance of making the final.
He could face the world no 40 either, mate.
Wouldn’t it be marvelous for British tennis if Kyle made the final? It’s like your prediction though that Chelsea are in contention to win this seasons EPL. It’s not going to happen.
And i suppose thats Federers fault?
I’m just questioning Boycott on his double standards.
The consensus of the tennis fraternity is that the 2017 renewal of the US Open was the weakest ever. The five players who started 2017 as the Top 5 ranked players in world and who were seeded accordingly at last years Australian Open were all absent from Flushing Meadows after injury plagued years - Murray (1), Djokovic (2), Raonic (3), Wawrinka (4) & Nishikori (5).
Hypocrite
Kid, you’re only new here a few weeks. This is an argument which I won conclusively with lapsed poster @Nembo_Kid last September. Do you have any new material to provide here? Are you going to cite a weaker renewal of the US Open than the 2017 edition?
The forum has a search facility and I was tipped off that you were a massive hypocrite which is clearly the case.
Maybe you should deal with the issue at hand rather than engaging in childish name calling. Enlighten us all as to why you take issue with my assertion that 2017 was the weakest ever renewal of the US Open.
Calling you a hypocrite because you contradict your supposed rationale is not childish, it’s perfectly valid.
Having a hissyfit because you have your double standards outed is childish however.
No idea what you’re saying now. You’re babbling incoherently.
