Raonic dumped out by Pouille in 4 sets.

Pouille is one of the rising stars of the men’s game.

There’s another contradiction from you. He’s only 5 months younger than Thiem.

Djokovic well in control against Nishikori.

Pouille is a much more skillful and rounded player than Thiem. Pouille has advanced further at the Australian Open and the Championship than Thiem. Pouille also a US quarter finalist. Thiem’s quarter final appearance at the US Open last year his only quarter final appearance in 16 attempts on the faster grass and hardcourts which provide the all round examination of a players game. Thiem can only function when slogging on the slower clay courts, which don’t require much in the way of speed, agility, reflexes or shot making ability. It’s all huffing and puffing on clay.

Pouille is not a more rounded player at all than. Thiem has won around double the number of slam games as Pouille, has won a Masters 1000 title, has a higher ranking than him and has around 3 times the prize money earned. There is no barometer that says Pouille is a better player. You could say on the giraffe wildlife park he might be more suited than Thiem but that is it really.

Nishikori retired against Djokovic.

I would love to know how many matches has Nishikori retired or pulled out off now. Every time he goes deep in a competition this happens. They only time I think it didn’t happen was his run to the US Open final.

So applying your criteria of this morning, we can take that at as a complete climbdown from your position yesterday and a concession that Sir Andy is to be ranked ahead of Wawrinka.

Grand Slam Wins - Sir Andy 3 - Wawrinka 3
Grand Slam Final Appearances - Sir Andy 11 Wawrinka 4
Masters Series Wins - Sir Andy 14 Wawrinka 1
Masters Series Finals - Sir Andy 21 Wawrinka 4
ATP Single Wins - Sir Andy 45 Wawrinka 16
ATP Final Appearances - Sir Andy 67 Wawrinka 28
Grand Slam Matches Won - Sir Andy 189 Wawrinka 138
Olympic Games Singles Gold - Sir Andy 2 Wawrinka 0
Career Prize Money - Sir Andy $60.93 million, Wawrinka $31.38 million

Applying your own criteria of this morning, you’ve just conceded that you got it wrong and there is no barometer that says Wawrinka is a better player than Sir Andy.

His body is brittle. He’s had a lot of long games in the tournament.

My criteria is Wawrinka has been successful in more slam events than Murray.

My criteria is that Pouille does not come out on top under any barometer.

Well applying your criteria of success at more slam events, Pouille ranks ahead of Thiem

Australia - Pouille (Semi Final and possibly more) Thiem (4th Round)
French - Pouille (Third Round) Thiem (Finalist)
The Championship - Pouille (Quarter Final) Thiem (4th Round)
US Open - Pouille (Quarter Final) Thiem (Quarter Final)

The contradictions of @Cicero_Dandi are in full sight for everyone once again here.

Not a contradiction at all, Pouille had won only one one match at Australia prior to this season. Thiem has showed much more consistency at events and had he not been injured then there is a good chance he would have met Pouille and beaten him along the way. Thiem has been at grand slam semi stage 3 times before, the quarter stage 4 times before, that is more than Pouille has done not to mention Thiem is a slam finalist and Pouille is not.

Ah but you made an error there, ya see because Thiem with further in the muck and shit of Paris, @Cicero_Dandi counts that as more important than anything else in the world.

So it doesn’t matter that Murray competed in 11 Grand Slam final appearences compared to Wawrinka’s 4 final appearences. All that matter is Wawrinka won the muck and shit tournamnent.

So you’re now relying on what if’s to try and explain away your contradictions. You’re taking an awful pounding here. I’ve just checked the head to head record there between Pouille and Thiem. As expected, the more rounded and skilful player Pouille leads the way. Pouille has won both of their head to head meetings - on clay in Monte Carlo and hardcourt in Metz.

http://www.stevegtennis.com/head-to-head/men/Dominic_Thiem/Lucas_Pouille/

Wasrinka won Ronald Garros, US Open and Australian Open. Murray won two Giraffe invitationals and the US Open.

Nope. I am just stating that Pouille has yet to appear at a slam final so by my criteria there is no debate to be had.

Thiem is a grand slam finalist
Pouille is not
Thiem is a 3 time slam semi finalist
Pouille is a 1 time slam semi finalist
Thiem is a 4 time slam quarter finalist
Pouille is a 3 time slam quarter finalist

And so on

You’re engaging in speculation, because you are getting destroyed on the facts. Thiem is a clay court specialist slogger. He’s shown very little in his career to date to suggest that he has the game for the faster courts. Pouille has comprehensively beaten Thiem in both their previous meetings in straight sets and you are reduced to saying…

When was Thiem injured?

I’m engaging in facts. You’re the guy who has consistently ran down Thiem but hyped up players who have not achieved a smidgen of what he has done.

Let us not forget how I destroyed you and your giraffe tennis cheerleaders in the Wimbledon thread. I predicted giraffes to prosper and you stood there vehemently opposing my points as my prophecy came to bear.

Know your place, Boycott.
