What a tosser.

He is a gobshite. What a waste of talent.

There’ll be a new Masters 1000 champion tonight as Medvedev beat Djokovic in the semi and will play David Goffin in the final now.

Medvedev is in fine form at the minute as he made the Rogers Cup Masters 1000 final last week and a win will put him into no 5 in the world.

US Open is now 2 weeks away, Andy Murray has confirmed he will only play doubles at it.

Medvedev won last night and moves up to world no 5.

Djokovic will still be the man to beat despite a surprise defeat to Medvedev in Cincinnati.

Federer’s recent record at the US isn’t great. He won 5 in a row from 04-08 but has failed to win it since and only qualified for 2 finals in that time.

Nadal has done reasonably well at the US Open but a lot will depend on how his knees hold out. He’s been in one of his best injury free cycles in a long time this year.

Still can’t see any of the next gen make a serious challenge. Zverev and Tsitsipas are in rotten form at the minute.

US Open draw takes place this evening. Any dark horses for it? Maybe Thiem or Medvedev?

Rublev is one to avoid in the first round, he beat Federer in straight sets in Cincinnati.

Will they change the draw around to suit federar like in Wimbledon or follow every other competition?

How old is Federer now? He must be nearly 38.

They will likely alter the schedule of play to let Federer play in the night slots so as to preserve his energy and give him the best chance.

Medvedev on current form seems to be one that could spring a surprise. Can’t see Thiem or any of the next Gen doing much here. Other than that it will be the same old same old Djokovic, Nadal and Federer.

Kygrios depending on which Kyrgios turns up could cause an upset or 2 if he decides to play tennis and not just go out to be an arsehole.

Not far off 40 now I’d say.

24 months give or take.

Federer probably has the easiest route to the semis.

Raonic and Anderson have both pulled out of the US Open.

Is #giraffewatch in place for the US Open?

Two giraffes just pulled out which is disappointing, both former Wimbledon finalists too I may add.

Big Reilly Opelka (all 6ft 11 of him) is two sets and a break up on the 11th seed, 5ft 8 midget Fabio Fognini. Its already shaping up to be a much better fortnight for giraffes than the cull we saw at the All England Club last night.

Reilly took the scalp of a 3 time slam winner at Wimbledon. Reilly will be a name to watch out for on grass and hard courts.

Big Sam Querry knocked out in the first round.

Federer lost the first set to some bum from India, he’s lucky that the draw is very kind to him in the early stages. The US Open is the other slam (bar the French) he has struggled badly at in the past decade.

Few tasty games today - Shapovalov vs FAA and Tsitsipas vs Rublev should be good. Nadal takes on last year’s quarter finalist John Millman who disposed of Federer in R4 here last year.

The first round opponents for the seeded players today seem to have much more pedigree so I’d be surprised not to see a good few upsets today and as many as 6/7 seeded players miss out today, a significant increase of only 3 who dropped out yesterday.

I see the Korean lad who made the Australian Open semi in 2018 is back. He doesn’t really seem to bother with RG or Wimbledon and only plays the hard court slams

Rublev has taken the first set against Tsitsipas.
