The term whataboutery

A handy out for hypocrites isn’t it? When you pretend you have morals or standards but actually don’t and only make that stance to pedal an agenda it puts you in an awkward position when those morals or standards are put to the test. And when these hypocrites have these morals or standards tested their out is “whatboutery”. Well here is a thread for the cowards and nasty actors who try and use this avenue to escape their shameful tactics

I won’t clog up the Russia Ukraine thread anymore but I note it’s interesting to see a pair of hypocrites like @Tim_Riggins and @balbec defend their silence of Western war mongering when they get vocal when it’s their side on the receiving end of hostile invasion.

Why is not fair to be consistent on hostile militant action and foreign invasision whether its done by Eastern or Western superpowers?

You don’t have to pick sides between Russia and the West, you can admit both of them are absolutely toxic to foreign affairs and foreign relations the world over. The West have a much bloodier and negative widespread influence on world affairs over the past 100 years.

Calling @Tim_Riggins

You have no issue with this, why is that?

Come on @Tim_Riggins why can’t you condemn this?

Why do you ignore Western forces backing murder and genocide in foreign nations? How do you expect to have your views given any credibility in Ukraine when you support Western allies murdering children and deploying airstrikes on civilians?

@Lazarus

Seems we have two posters here with a severe case of Munsteritis.

All haughty about certain matters but when its their boys involved the cat grabs their tongue.

The truth hurts.

Still no sign of @Tim_Riggins addressing why he supports US allies bombing childrens hospitals and trying to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian race. Not one word of condemnation from him.

The hypocrisy of Western warmongers is quite frankly disgusting and their new found exploitation of the Ukranian invasion is really low.

This is what @Tim_Riggins supports.

Come on @Tim_Riggins

Have you lost your moral compass? Is this what you think is just?

Still yapping from the sidelines @Tim_Riggins. Not an ounce of decency or courage to address your hypocrisy.

People see you and they see you avoiding condemning the murder of kids like the plague.

We know anything you say is shallow and insincere.

This is the action of your boys, actions you wholeheartedly support. I suppose they are brown skinned, Muslim and poor so in your mind that justifies it.

UN condemns deadly air strike on Yemen prison - BBC News.

I thought this lad left. When did he come back?

I’m back a few weeks now Mac.

Who?

I’ll be honest, whataboutery is the essence of anti-Catholic thought and no Catholic can be a Whataboutist.

Whataboutery is exactly what Pope Benedict identified as the scourge of relativism, which has corrupted the modern world. Whataboutery is the devil’s first line of attack. Get behind me Satan.

Whataboutery is also a key weapon for the Russian Army. Whataboutery is one of the deadly sins.

I commend anyone who fights against whataboutery, even a wanker and a hypocrite like @Tim_Riggins and I can say that because I’m not a whataboutist.

Whataboutery is the out clause of bigots. The term whataboutery is invoked by the most disingenuous actors to pedal their agenda.

When you have someone who wants to paint themselves as people of morals and paint their position as sincere when it’s nothing of the sort they are the type of people who cry about whataboutery.

You know the people who rely on the term whataboutery? Hypocrites, it gives them cover to run away from their answering to their agenda and propaganda.

What people who cry whataboutery are the ones who justify war crimes on one hand and condemn them on the other.

Vermin, away and join O’Duffy, that’s the way you’re going.

The term was actually coined by John Hume, true story. He used it as a decent man to attack the bigots like Ian Paisley who used whataboutery as a get out clause for whatever evil act they wanted to justify. John Hume wisely gave the sin a name so he could fight it.

John Hume was wrong about a lot of things but he was right about the whataboutery.

It’s not. If you knew anything it was actually a term used to dismiss republicans.

As I said, you’re going the way of O’Duffy.

Whatabout tedious cunts not spamming this place?

Whatabout hypocrites not admitting they are disingenuous and merely pedalling an agenda? If there’s no hypocrisy there’s no whataboutism. Whataboutism is how you call out hypocrites, it’s the hypocrites that have the issue.

Mate, you came back in a blaze of glory and a load of ‘look at me, how righteous am I’ guff, using horrible situations in Yemen and other places to try and cover up your past useful idiocy about Putin.
When did you last post about Yemen before your return?

It’s funny is all I’m saying. You’re a funny e-guy :+1:
