The TFK Suggestions Thread

We had one of these before but I didn’t pay any attention to it.

If anyone has any suggestions for TFK post them here. If you like a suggestion, then like the post. I’ll see what’s possible and what’s not.

I’ll start:

  1. Get @Thrawneen to do a couple of nice posts that we can feature on the front page of the site.
  2. Figure out a way of applying the Last Man Standing or the Pickem competitions to GAA leagues or championships.
  3. Resolve the ongoing argument about the quality of Ulster football.
  1. Select a profession for Aidan O Shea

I think you should set up the TFK tv channel where you could broadcast all of our favourite show, old matches films etc.

  1. Bring back the ignore thread option

bring tags back ta fuck

@Rocko, can you make a change whereby threads stay as unread where the latest post has been from an ignored poster? Nothing worse than clicking onto a thread expecting something witty from @Mac, or an amusing anecdote from @Bandage or a thought provoking observation on the GGA from @The Selfish Giant and it turns out there’s nothing new except some more nonsense from MBB.

This guy is trying to hard now.

I think we resolved no.3 since my equation clamped @Manuel Zelaya last time out.

The meagre haul of 17 All Ireland’s for Ulster counties in 127 years of championship football resolves that particular non-debate.

There are two reasons why this is gone:

  1. It was an addon that required a copyright message to be displayed on every page that pissed me off.
  2. It seemed to be contributing to performance problems we had.
I’ll see if there is an alternative solution.

@Bandage is vehemently opposed to this. I can’t remember why. I’m largely indifferent. If there’s sufficient demand and if Bando doesn’t mind then this can be done. We always have the option of hashtagging currently but few use this.

I doubt it. I didn’t know that was what happened but it makes sense. I can’t ignore users so can’t test it but I doubt there’s much I can do to change that behavior because the thread will always update to show new posts, even if you have selected not to see them. Would be difficult to break that relationship.

I clamped you good and proper when you disputed the success of teams from the O6 in recent years, you wussed out.

And the wiki

You said that sides from the United Kingdom part of Ulster hadn’t been winning All Ireland’s in the 1970’s and 80’s because they were fighting a war. I pointed out that they hadn’t been winning them at a particularly hectic rate of late with Tyrone’s win in 2008 the only All Ireland they had won in the last decade and there was no excuse of a war now. Equally there was no ‘war’ in the years between 1994-2002 when Ulster counties failed to win even a single All Ireland.

Where have you been on the tennis thread all week? You haven’t been seen since you were on crowing over a Nadal win over a nobody in the early rounds last week. Hardly anything to do with the hiding Nadal got from Berdych on Tuesday morning?

Nobody looked at it when I brought it back. I couldn’t figure out how to restore the old content so that probably didn’t help. Again, can be switched on easily if there’s real interest in it.

Huh?

Is using “@” not tagging?

Is this a joke?

I’m unsure.

Nope. That’s one form of tagging. This one was the wehatesophis type of post tags that there used to be.

they were hilarious, grossly offensive and usually verged on cyber-bullying.

I can’t think of a single reason not to bring them back.

Bring tags back right now.
