He won Munster titles with Limerick that canāt be sniffed at and for that i applaud the man.
BUT, his legacy will always be of losing 2 All Ireland finals regardless of what anyone else says. If Tom had won those All Irelandās then he could spout away all he likes imo. Babās won 2 and he talks serious shite but he won 2.
Tom imo loves the sounds of his own voice, he is a character and good luck to him.
We will go a long way before we win two Munsters again and I think it will take an unexpected team to win them. Already there is too much talk that the coming breed will win at least a Munster as a matter of form. Are the coming breed better than the three in a row players who were unable to win Munster?
the 3 in a row team were talented enough, just not dedicated, and they also ran into that great waterford side and the cork '99 u21 side. Things a little more open now i think you would agree. Limerick have every right to think they can win munster in next 3 years, but the div 2 thing wil definitely stunt their development
Found it.I donāt know has this been posted already but i loved the one about the editor of the Limerick Leader.
I had a word with the editor of the limerick leader because he printed an article saying that i resigned as Limerick manager.I rang him and i fucked him and asked him when i was resigning and where did he get that information?Oh i kind of understood it he said.Did any of youāre reporters ever speak to me?Oh he said i heard it.Oh i said is it kind of guess work?I fucked him from a pinacle and i fucking called him everything.
Cregan was a great player but i get the impression that the man was a bollox with a high opinion of himself. Was it really worth kicking out Timber Tom and bringing in Eamonn Cregan to make shit out of the team that Tom built?
Wexford did cheat Limerick out of an all ireland in 96.That goal should have been allowed and didnāt that tramp Liam Dunne get away with that belt on Gary Kirby?
Limerick will never be at peace until Tom Ryan once more takes the Limerick bainisteoir bib and takes this county to its rightful place among the blessed.
Im a huge fan of Timber Tom but he did make blunders in both those all ireland defeats. These posts here are from a thread on an fear rua.
1 Not bringing on Galligan in 96 was one of a number of dissterous decisions on the day. Moving Ciaran off of Martin Storey and putting Davey Clarke to No. 6 was a disaster as was bringing Mc Donagh to wing back and leaving Mike Nash completely exposed against Gary Laffin inside. The last straw was taking TJ off and bringing on Herbert, who was an average forward at club level, to try and win you an All Ireland Final. Crazy Stuff which should have been addressed in the book.

Following Limk at that time provide me with some of my best memories in hurling. We were young at the time and we were all hurling against the Limk players at club level which was a thrill in itself. However my worst memories are losing those two All Ireland Finals and I donāt accept that they were lost on the pitch.
Tomās selection policies in 94 were questionable and his perseverance with Joe OāConnor at corner back cost us the title that year. We had good hurlers like John OāNeill on the sideline most of the year and we actually started the championship against Cork with Steve Mc Donagh on the subs bench! I have no issue with Tom not running up and down the sideline when things went against us as I believe it happened so fast it wouldnāt have made any difference.
He cannot say that the 96 final was lost on the pitch given the fact it was he who made all the positional switches and substitutions that I mentioned above. Martin Storey caught every puck out after the switch of Ciaran off of him which took all the pressure off the Wexford defence. Clarke was an all star wing back and Mc Donagh was one of the best corner backs in the country and he moved both of them out of their best positions which diminished their effectiveness and increased the impact of their immediate opponents. I honestly canāt see how Tom can admonish himself from blame for 96 especially
