The waxing lyrical about the issues with the Mayo Footballing Psyche Thread

I’ve no real interest in afl. Their is athleticism is impressive but that’s really it. It’s somewhere where between rugby league and basketball for me.

It’s a huge pity for mayo to lose this lad. He looked like a lad who’d really attract people to the game. He could really play.

I wouldnt rule anything out the way Collison is spending money up there.

I feel like this post should be preserved somewhere.

Its only a matter of time before the FRC change the scoring system to mirror the old International Rules one - 6 pointer for a goal, 3 pointer for an ‘over’ and 1 pointer for kicking it wide :grinning:

It’s absolutely galling the GAA haven’t made a better fist of All Ireland weekends.

The sum total of attempts to capture the publics imagination for the weekend is Des Cahill grinning like a bufoon on Up For The Match.

Its been dumbed down massively in the last few years with no Minor game and no Kilmacud Sevens.

Its a total joke with the ground 75% empty when the teams are running out.

Lads dont want to be in a stadium beforehand, its not the GAA way. They want pints and craic. Its simply how it is. The Minor game got a few in, but they were generally the supporters of those sides, and a few lads who’d start strolling in for the second half.

Its better that the competing counties have access to the more tickets, than the minor counties.

The GAA could try do more, but you’ll still get lads getting that last pint in ahead of the game.

I would put the jubilee team on at half time though, its such a simple thing.

You could also considering closing the gates 40 minutes before throw in. That’ll get them in.

Just spotted Red Óg in there

Is Ian Ryan still kicking ball nowadays? Must be in his late 30s?

No, retired a few years I’d say. Was riddled with injuries.

Was actually coaching the Buttevant team that won the Cork Permier Junior last week.

He’s well able to run. Probably around 6’1 or 6’2 already. At 17 he’ll probably grow another couple of inches on top of that. Heading over at 18 as well gives him plenty time to adapt to the Sherrin. Lot of lads headed over there when they were a few years older.

“Serious pace to burn”

How many of the young fellas games have you watched at all?

Why no Stynes’s on that list?

Did he ever play a senior game?

I presume the Glenn Earley in 1983 is actually Paul Earley from Roscommon

Just need Lee Keegan, Ciaran McDonald and Willie Joe Padden back now and the All-Ireland is in the bag.
