literally quixotian tilting at windmills

really good mate

Irish Energy Bot on X: “Yesterday, wind met 51% of Irish electricity demand. The high was 73%. Total generation met 94% of demand and averaged a 54%/46% split between wind and all other sources. Wind peaked at 66%. https://t.co/gxfCDy2l30” / X (twitter.com)

How many Irish wind farms cut out at winds above 90 km/h? There’s a move to allow them operate above that - is that a software or a hardware update ?

We need to keep going. More wind, more renewables. Fuck oil and fossil fuels.

We do but we need sources of power for when renewables not enough. Probably nuclear from France ?

Nuclear is the future. It will cause humanity to leap forward. The sooner people get on board the better

yes mate, if only we were building the Celtic interconnector

Indeed we do. IMHO if we can generate 80% of total usage, including peaks and throughs of wind for example from renewable and add in imported nuclear from france we will be in a great place. Ideally we should have a small reactor here in ireland and aim to be self sufficient. Export excess renewable energy which a majority will be wind. Unfortunately i dont think we will ever be nuclear

I know pal. Great to see us embrace the reality of nuclear if a little hypocritical.

Yeah that’s the ideal. It’s pity we never built our own nuclear station. I suspect we never will now due to the performative outrage merchants.

We’d have needed to build pre 1998 to ensure we got value for money and it was safe.

What’s the challenges post 1998?

Its the cost of capital to fund the construction. Interest payments cost more than the plant itself

where would you build it mate

So we’re gonna go ahead with turning ireland into a giant wind farm?

Could they not have done this over zoom?
