same for anyone who built a house somewhere low lying and close to the countries biggest river. idiots.
the people who want a few buckets of silt dredged out of the shannon to solve this problem 
should be fucked into the shannon in a tied coal bag.
the shannon is 200 miles long. its practically flat in river terms. youd need to lower the whole 200 miles of it by a metre or more every year. it flows at its own pace and no man will make it go quicker im afraid.
i think the people who built houses at the side of the shannon at the same level to the river should not be pitied but laughed at. i suppose it was their own land, and they felt entitled to live there.

Perterswell is like a big bowl that takes all the flow from the north side of the Aughtey mountains. The only solution to south Galways flooding problems is literally to make a channel all the way from there to Kinvara bay. It will never happen.

I’m just back from a walk along fenit aqueduct, I fought my way to the top of the St Brendan the navigator statue. It’s safe to say I had the entire place to myself. It’s also safe to say it’s fucking wild up there and in the surrounding areas now.
