Mean wind speeds in excess of 80 km/h and gusts in excess of 130km/h are expected, potentially causing structural damage and disruption, with dangerous marine conditions due to high seas and potential flooding.

Hurricane Ophelia is expected to transition to a post tropical storm as it approaches our shores on Monday. Mean wind speeds between 65 and 80 km/h with gusts between 110 and 130km/h are expected, however some inland areas may not be quite as severe. The winds have potential to cause structural damage and disruption, with dangerous marine conditions due to high seas and potential flooding.

It’s 22 degrees and humid here. I hate it when the weather is like this in winter. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter is the natural order of things.
School buses operated by Bus Éireann in Cork, Kerry, Clare, Mayo and Galway will not run on Monday due to the expected arrival of the remains of Hurricane Ophelia.
How do these wind speeds compare with the big one a few years ago, 2014 I think it was? In a piece of unfortunate timing, I took a few days off work that time and went down home to Cork. We were without power for a couple of days.
