The SSW progged by the GFS has the potential to bring in bitter easterlies from roughly 20th February on. Could be a repeat of March 2013. Only pointers at this stage. For cold and snow lovers to be sure of an easterly you need to be down to 72h out and the three main models, GFS, ECM and UKMO in agreement.
Easterlies now tend to be more frequent in March and April, than January and February, when they are problematic for farmers, gardeners etc. If the synoptics predicted developed two months earlier you’d have a serious cold, possibly snowy, winter.

It’s not a weather forecast Julio it’s a description of what’s going on in the Stratosphere which may effect our weather.
In fairness this page needs some bit of meteo knowledge bar it’s cold today, me hands are fallin off etc. One should never revel in ignorance.
