Something like 400,000 Cambodians who were living in Thailand have now returned to northern Cambodia in the last week. Camps have been set up for evacuees and conditions are very primitive. My boyfriend visited the camps yesterday with a lot of people donating supplies but all very chaotic and disorganised. For once a big UN agency is needed.
A huge amount of anger in Cambodia about how this is being portrayed in western media with the much smaller and much poorer country being depicted as the aggressor over land that is legitimately theirs and has been ruled as theirs twice by the ICJ. Leadership of Cambodia not helped themselves in this but it is tragic for many, many people on both sides of the border.
