A colleague of mine bought a 200 year old house grade 1 listed recently, and was extremely expensively renovating with architects breathing down his neck, when they found a skeleton in the foundations. Whole thing held up for a full crime scene job. Turns out the skeleton was as old as the house and the conclusion reached was that a labourer died on site, so they just threw the poor bugger into the foundations and kept building. Said it wasn’t rare.
