In early 1984, Tom Pettyâs guitarist Mike Campbell offered Petty a tune he had composed. Petty didnât think it was the right fit for the album The Heartbreakers & him were working on.
So Campbell then offered it to Don Henley, who put his own lyrics to it and changed the keyâŚthe rest is history.

GMT ( Greenwich Mean Time) doesnât change as such. Itâs BST (British Standard Time) that changes for daylight saving.
Particularly relevant in this day and age with Zoom meetings and the like. Some smart bollix will quote you GMT.
I would always tend to quote GMT. National pride wonât allow me to reference BST, and IST is a tad niche for international bidness meetings.

Back in the 1920s Al Caponeâs lawyer âeasy Eddieâ OâHare had a crisis of conscience as he wanted to set a good example for his son and decided to give the feds the info they needed to get Capone on tax charges. He also passed the info to the feds which led to switching the jury at Caponeâs trial.
Chicago never forgets though and easy Eddie was gunned down in the late 30s.

He did however set a great example for his son who became a naval aviator in ww2. In one incident he was the sole cover for his carrier Lexington when a squad of japenese bombers attacked. He shot down 5 of them and was awarded the medal of Honor for his actions.
OâHare died later on in ww2 but as a lasting memorial to him Chicago airport now bears his name.
