Not at all rare. Late marriage for men waiting to get the farm was quite common for well over a hundred years after the famine. The wife could typically be 15 years younger.

One my grandfathers was born in 1875. He lived to near his 93rd birthday.

I’ve just had a quick look there and my own great grandfather was born “about 1859”.

I just find it fascinating to think so few amount of generations can cover so many years.

Putting together the family tree is a very worthwhile exercise. Thought-provoking going through the names, the places and the dates. I’ve a pretty decent one for the fathers side (they weren’t people for venturing much outside the Limerick borders). Keen to get one for the mother’s side.

One of the lads was doing a family tree project so we helped a bit. We got the Caherconlish side back to the 1760’s. The wifes one was more tricky, half the records were in German and the other half were in Russian.

We’re there since the 1780’s anyway. Probably does count as a blow in I suppose.

There could even be some shared names there so if you go back far enough. On the Caherconlish side that is, not the Yekaterinburg branch.

At least there’s no one there from Tipp.

A few branches threw caution to the wind with dalliances with Doon and Oola, but they knew not to cross the line.

Sufferers have 3 fingers and a thumb on each hand.

British tennis player Francesca Jones has it.
