Marie Elmes (5 May 1908 – 9 March 2002) was an Irish aid worker from Cork, credited with saving the lives of at least 200 Jewish children at various times during the Holocaust, by hiding them in the boot of her car. In 2015, she became the first and only Irish person honoured as “Righteous Among the Nations” by the State of Israel.

Channel 4 did the highlights in the 90s. I’d to stay up late to watch the 94 final. A drunk in the park with a transistor radio had warned me Offaly won earlier in the day so I was a bit perplexed with 5 minutes to go.

It doesn’t have surge gates either so there’s a nice little accident waiting to happen if a tsunami was to hit either end.

If a tsunami hits the surge gates will do fuck all in the grand scheme of things either.
