Things I learned today (Part 2)

The US state department worked against efforts to accept more (Jewish) refugees in WWII and later suppressed reports of the German systematic mass murder of Jews in order to damp down protests or movements calling for acceptance of more Jewish refugees.

Learned yesterday. The documentary series the US and the Holocaust running on rte at the moment is very good.

Breckinridge Long a lifelong anti semite was Assistant Secretary of State and the villain of the piece.

A cunt. He scotched an earlier attempt to allow more refugees too. This incident seemed to include more than him and approached conspiracy levels. Really interesting how it was uncovered by the Treasury department and when the refugee board was set up it under treasury. Lots of the earlier attempts to assist scotched by the southern racist senate and Congress scum who sympathised with the Nazis. One of the worst episodes was the bill to accept twenty or thirty thousand Jewish child refugees being torpedoed.
