cork based posters who were in college with me and caoimhaoin will remember “beat the clock” in Nancy Spain’s on Barrack street that was the reason for many unplanned pregnancies and other shenanigans during rag week in CIT / Cork RTC and most weeknights between 5-9pm as far as i remember, pints would start off at a pound/euro and go up 50p every hour, it was fucking carnage, there was nothing wrong ordering say 7 pints at 5 to the hour and lining them up on the table. great fucking days, it was banned i think around 2003 maybe…
