Things that are right

Drop-in to an ould neighbour here every xmas day, same drill every year… an abnormal amount of brandy and port thrown into a pint glass and dont dare leave till its gone.

A lovely woman but she wouldnt last long as a publican.

Staring into space here.

She’s playing KP off another few bucks, all up minding her. Mugging the lads off good and proper.

She had KP in for the 2-3 slot, another 7 or 8 lads over the course of the day. Another 10 odd to take her out for the wren lads tomorrow.

I was out on the bike there and met a young lady going up one of the hills. Said a cheery good morning, and, to my surprise, not only did she seem happy to chat, she also is a semi pro on track and road and in the GB squad. (she was also very pretty, though a generation younger)
We cycled together and chatted for a good half an hour about this and that until we finally parted company as I turned for home. She wished me a very happy Christmas and said she’d hope to see me in the hills again soon, and would keep a look out.
It was a most pleasant half an hour, talking about cycling, road and track. I was well mannered enough not to mention sbw and his brown envelopes.
If my daughter had her manner I’d be absolutely delighted.

Lovely story, I could have been on a bike right beside you there with how well you told that. You wouldn’t get that type of politeness in Ireland.
