I had a therapist once who did some CBT with me. One of the big irrational beliefs he said I held is that I should not have to tolerate discomfort - i.e. suffer from depression. He pointed out that unfortunately that is life and nearly everybody has some sort of discomfort. When you hear stories like that above it is clear that your lot isn’t actually that bad.

Had a medical a few weeks ago - nothing like that showed up as far as I know. They did a blood test so presume it would have showed up on that.
