Things That Are Wrong

I have it in a windows desktop themed colour.

Here Farmer posting photos of members is a no no

Allowing knackers into Carnegie Hall. There wont be a bit of copper left in the place after them.

My rant on this is a day overdue but here goes.
The Flora Mini Marathon has been running in Dublin for 28 years. How in the name of God is there such a total meltdown around traffic in the city on the day of the mini marathon.

Yesterday I left Kilkenny at 1pm with the goal of being in my D4 abode by 3pm easily for the Clare Waterford game.
I came in my usual route through my usual route via Milltown and was about to go down Elginton Road when it was barricaded by the Gardai.
Ok, I thought, they will have diversions in place by the Gardai and there will certainly be an acceptable route to my home. Or so I hoped. My God was I wrong.

I was directed on toward Clonskeagh. Not the end of the world. I opened my window to talk to the first garda I encountered and she was incredibly unprepared for the most basic queries around the event. Her local knowledge was also disastrous.
Conversation went something like this:
Me: Hi, I live in [where I live] I gave the road name. It is a well-known road
Her: I don’t know where that it is.
Me: It is between Donnybrook and Ballsbridge
Her: Oh, you can’t get through Donnybrook anyway. Come back in a couple of hours.
Me: Sorry?
Her: You can’t get through.
Me: There is no way through at all?
Her: [shrugs shoulders] Sure people can’t even get to the hospital.
Me: But surely if I go up far enough I’ll be able to get to where I need to go.
Her: [shrugs shoulders again]
Me: Ok, thanks. [roll eyes]

Can’t get to the hospital? What the fuck? They have organized an event in such a way that it prevents people from accessing emergency services? Surely that would be the very first consideration.
I kept on going anyway went through Clonskeagh and turned down towards the N11. I was directed south on the N11 toward Leopardstown.
I turned left through Booterstown and was directed through Sandymount. Basically the Gardai had directed me right in to the race. I met another garda and he was also of little use.
Me: Hi, I live in [where I live] I gave the road name.
Him: You can’t go there. Come back at 6pm.
Me: What? I live there… Where am I meant to go?
At which point one of the organisers chimed in with actual constructive help.
I had to park my car a couple of streets from my house and walk through the marathon to get to my house.

This left me with the lowest impression I have ever had of the police in this country.
They had no idea what was going on and were blindly shepherding people into the wrong areas. How is it possible that an event like this can shut down a whole area?
Surely there is a route that could be taken to allow people to get to where they live.
It would not have been hard to arm gardai with the exact route that run takes and what exact detours people need to take to get anywhere they need to go. That would the very least I would expect.
The idea that emergency services were hampered in any way is bonkers. I can only assume that they supposed ban garda was way off. [Which only adds to her incredible levels of ignorance]
28 years of this and they can’t get it right. Brutal.

Anybody interested in taking out an court injunction against this farce? You cannot stop a person from getting to their house, it’s against the law. You should not have been told you had to walk to your house. The Gardaí are pig ignorant scum. I have more time for junkies than I do for those despicable cunts.

All men who take part in this should be neutered.

My brother had the same problem yesterday. He was getting a taxi from Connolly and it took him an hour and a half to get to Ranelagh/Milltown area. Apparently the taxi driver made him tell a cop that he lived down Eglinton Road but a few follow up questions left him flummoxed.

Oh laadee daa

Hm. Why so?

Because Stone Cold said so

Please…

What do you think I’m gonna live on the northside?

My last 4 abodes have been Donnybrook, Ranelagh, Donnybrook, Ballsbridge.
It goes without saying that Ranelagh was the worst.

I live to a certain standard that you peasants wouldn’t understand.

Have you had to move house a lot due to neighbours being freaked out by you making CD’s for them?

Yes…

:frowning:

I’ve made the steady decline from D6 to D6W and then on to D8 and now I’m moving into less salubrious location in D8.

I wouldn’t dream of venturing into the odd numbers however

no chance of moving back to K6 then ?

Not in the current economic environment Art. K6 would be a good 25 minute drive from my home place anyway

My local pub opening early to show rugby football between New Zealand and Ireland live on Saturday morning at 8.30am.
