Agreed Rocko, it’s a fashion statement and nothing more.
If they were serious about showing their distaste for the Glazers they’d stop going to the games, stop buying jersies and stop renewing season tickets.
One thing that struck me last year, when the Red Knights were messing about last year trying to get a bid together they were encouraging people to stop buying season tickets etc, just ruin the Glazers business in general, they were then going to swoop in and get it on the cheap, surely this had to be breaking some law somewhere?
If you compare it to the real world it’s like destroying someone’s pub business by campaigning outside it and then buying it on the cheap when no one goes there anymore, not very ethical is it?
Because they’re wearing these scarves as a sign of protest while attending a meaningless friendly which is protecting the commercial interests of the very owners they want out of the club.
And to be honest many of them are only supporters of United because of their commercial success. I don’t have a huge problem with that but I think it’s a little much for fans of the club in Ireland to give out about American owners.
They sold themselves out to the highest bidder a long time ago. That’s what happens when you want to run the club as a company. Again, it’s not unique to United but the idea that they’re hard done by (despite their massive outlay in wages) is a bit much.
Paying money to justify United’s appearance fee for this friendly does absolutely nothing to remove the Glazers from power. They’re kidding themselves if they think wearing a different colour scarf to the match is going to change it either.
Loads and loads of fans of loads and loads of clubs give out fuck about the owners yet keep going to matches, buying jerseys etc.
It’s happened ever since I’ve been watching it.
Surely it’s a bit obvious to be pointing it out.
United get more stick than all the rest cos they’re the least ‘cool’ team to follow.
Irish people getting upset or involved in any way with any of this stuff is ridiculous really but hard to give out about it if you’re a liverpool or celtic fan or whoever. (Celtic fans slightly less ridiculous cos of some links to ireland)
I’m dying, I don’t really know what the fuck I’m talking about.
That game was an incredible embarrassment.
Makes me so angry. I just undertake the coonts. Fook that. Doesn’t really matter what speed they are doing. Some coonts think if they are doing 120 they’re right to stay out there. They are not. They are coonts.
Mate of mine got done for undertaking once. I prefer to get into their mirrors until they wake up to the rest of the world on the roads. I’m not a fan of beeping or flashing lights though. If I have to take on the inside then I will.
What if there’s a group of cars obviously going slow on inside lane, up ahead of you 100m or so. If you keep going at 120 in outside lane you will pass them in five seconds or so, but some fella comes flying up behind ya flashing lights etc? If you pull in it will be dangerous due to the speed you are going but if you speed up to pass the group on inside quicker you will be going around 140kph (you may have penalty points and not be able to risk getting any more). Be obviously fine if everyone just went at 120 on speed limit but they don’t.
What to do then?
I’ve mellowed a good bit as a driver but when the mood takes me I tailgate and flash and get irate. I actually don’t see much of a danger in undertaking really.
All those so called Irish folks are that joke of a match at the Lansdowne Road last night supportingly an English team and even chanting an English players name. Shame on them fuckers. They should all be lined up and shot.
Oh yeah Fuckers who don’t use their indicators ever and fuckers where I live who think because the roundabout is a housing estate that can go around it the wrong way.
There is no danger in undertaking, and I would regularaly partake in it, but ever since my mate got done, I’d be wary enough of it unless its vital. I would happily drive in the most inside of inside lanes on the M50 now since the new lanes have been completed, its a breeze of a drive.
I watched too many horror movies as a kid to flash and beep, tailgating works much better for me.
Ya know what I mean though. Sometimes there’s a kind of grey area depending on how far the group on the inside lane are ahead of ya. You are overtaking at the speed limit and just cos some cunt coming behind wants to break the speed limit and over take he loses the plot. I’ve been in both positions to be honest. Sometimes just happy to tip along at speed limit other times mad to fly along at 140/150kph.
There is a bit of danger in it in fairness. Some clowns, especially the type who are going fairly slow in outside lane, wouldn’t the most observant. They would sometimes pull from outside to inside lane suddenly without checking wing mirrors.
It’s lethal actually. Nearly saw someone crashing doing it one time.
