Shocking alright, don’t know why people still get it when Bus Eireann & the Wexford Bus is much quicker and cheaper. I believe it’s reduced down to 3 carriages now as so few use it.
Because they sell cans on it maybe? Or the fact it has a pisser. I’m slightly ashamed to say that I had to do a Gerard Depardieu on it on the 11:30pm Bus Eireann from Gorey to Dublin a few weeks ago after a few cans once the nipper was in the sack.
And that Wexford Bus…can be dodgy. Tried to get the 6:20pm from Gorey on Sunday. Pulls up with only a few seats left and the driver tells us he’ll only take whoever’s going to the airport. There was about 20 people waiting. Had to go to the 64 for a pint and wait for the 7pm Bus Eireann. Also, the evening bus from Dublin is often one of the smaller buses. I could hardly walk after getting off it the last day, such is the lack of legroom.
The train has its charms.

Less likely to have a bog but more likely to have a seat. Bypasses Arklow and goes all the way in along the N11 so if you’re still living near that plaque you posted about previously it’d only be a few mins walk. Less frequent but far more reliable. I used it when I was in college over 10 years ago. From Gorey, you’d be upto Dublin 4 in a little over an hour I’d guess on a Sunday evening.
Timetable here - http://www.ardcavan.com/dublin_september_2011.pdf - maybe ring to make sure it’s still up to date. They were the original Wexford bus but never put on as many services each day. Just up in the morning and home in the evening, with a few extra on a Friday / Sunday for students.
Thanks Mac. Looks good actually. Nice to have another option. Ever get the late (after 10pm) Bus Eireann from Wexford? There’d be fucking no one on it and we driving into Wicklow and Ashbourne and sitting outside some hotel. Ridiculous stuff. Even worse is that they don’t amend the timetables for times like Sunday morning when you’d be down in Arklow 20mins quicker but you’ve to sit and wait so you’re pulling away from the church at the same time as if on a Friday evening rush-hour. A joke. It’d nearly convince me to bother my hole to learn to drive. Nearly.
