Down in Dungarvan for a week with the clan. Had a lovely meal in The Tannery with Mrs Barnes last night and then went to Minnieās in Abbeyside where there was a tremendous music session on. About 15 people all with varying instruments. They all took turns singing. Everything from Amy Winehouse to Johnny Cash. Seems its a weekly event. Dungarvan is a real thriving, bustling town. We were in Youghal on Monday and the difference was stark.
Dungarvan is a great town, Youghal is the wrong shape altogether for visiting, just that long Main Street,
Youghal used to be thriving on the seafront years ago, itās a nice beach. Was a brilliant place to holiday back in the 80s, so many of my happiest childhood memories.
I think I recommended Minnieās here before,
Did you get a fish supper from ā¦.and Chips yet?
You should go into The Local. The food menu is iconic.
Foleys two doors down is a great Racing pub then.
The Marina must be like Monte Carlo on a day like today with all the yachts around.
And Chips is a favourite alright. Youghal has the look of a holiday town that has seen better days. alright. A bit like Bray. Youād feel like u are in a Smithās video.
Carlton Village in Youghal was the place to be back in the Celtic Tiger Days. Trabolgan had nothing on it.
An outdoor swimming pool really opened my eyes as a naive 10 year old. The pitch and putt course in the town was class too. The water was a real hazard to someone like me only used to playing up the Hills in Tipp Town.
We were in The Local. Lovely spot. We watched Man utd getting g it up the arse in The Lady Belle. Heading to Merrys for dinner tomorrow night.
Was a real West Tipp venue. The Kickhams branch of the Moffats would always be down there
We gave the day there last year when we were back. Iād not been there since 2006 at least when I was at a 21st in Abbeyside. I thought it was a great spot and Mrs Moffat marked it down as a place to stay for future holidays.
We are staying here. Great history to it. Ideal for a big group. Owned by an absolute gent.
Mrs J has just booked us into cafe goa next weekend. Ta lads.
Sheād better clear her plate.
Are you staying in the Tower?
Yep
Nice part of the town. Few nice bars and paces to eat around there.
Jordanās is a good spot. Donāt get out too much anymore but had a few pints there over the August bank holiday weekend.
Iād second Jordanās. A lovely pub.
Jordans looked lovely but was full enough by the time we got there after our gig. We went back to some place round the corner. Wine bar and cocktail vibe. A lovely place. Theyād O Haraās on tap
Had a lovely stroll around a corner of Waterford city yesterday morning ,in through the narrow streets ,from the tower hotel up toward the Main Street , the cobblestoned streets, old churches . Given the crisp morning I felt like I was in the narrow streets of the old town of Prague.
@Fagan_ODowd I see the Duke of Devonshire is at it
